Faces From the Back, and the Front!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010
I had such a great time last week hooking up with a dear friend from my past, that I have not had the opportunity to really spend quality time with.  She was staying about 45 minutes away from Madison on a business trip, and we met out one evening and started catching up on each others lives, and looked at the clock, and 5 hours had passed, and we had not skipped a beat.  I think we could have talked another 5.  It was so great spending time with her, so I was inspired to feature a card that she is featured on.

Card #BC-281 "Hop, skip, jump....Hurray" is a picture of my friend Michele Kasten when she was a little girl.  She was caught in the picture mid air jumping fearlessly (a trait she personifies still) into a pool.  When I copied the picture to use for the collage, the pool, and water did not show up and it looked like she was jumping in to nothingness....so I colored the background into water with colored pencils.  While doing that I kind of messed up, and got too much blue on her left leg....so I made another smaller copy and pasted another picture of her on top of it.  I liked it even better that way.  I cannot tell you how many times some of my favorite pieces evolve from moving beyond what starts out as a mistake.

Now for the face on the back....it's like a bonus, because this is a picture of another one of my very favorite people.  This happens to be Michele's Mom...(and she is like a Mom to me also) Pat Van Essen.  Isn't she just a doll?  This is such a great picture of her because the smile and joy that exudes from her is her true essence.  She is really a fun, loving, positive person...and I love her dearly.

So, hop, skip, jump....hurray for family, and good friends.
Keep in touch with those you love.

Middle Child Monday #4

Monday, May 10, 2010

I've missed the last couple Monday's but I'm back with a new Middle Child Made Card.
Since Monday shows some of my favorite sitcoms, I thought card #026 "I love sitcoms" would be perfect.

When I first saw this design I thought,  "hmmmm, I can think of a least half a dozen people I could send this to"  It's just one of those quirky cards that you relate to, and would not find at Hallmark. Oh, and by the way...my favorite sitcom on Monday night is "The Big Bang Theory".

Happy Monday!

Keep giggling....xox
