Another Sunny Monday, Another "Face from the Back".

Monday, March 29, 2010
Another Sunny Monday in March, in Wisconsin!  Really liking this.

Today's Face from the back comes from card BC-274 - Classic.

This is a picture of my Grandma and Grandpa Skaggs, (my Dad's parents).  My Grandma Betty grew up in Indiana, and my Grandpa Hugh grew up in Kentucky.  My Grandma was only 16 years old when they got married, and they were together for life.  I always remember my Grandma saying she first noticed my Grandpa because of the "cool" car he drove.  I don't know if that is the same car in the background, I doubt it since they look quite a bit older...but my Grandpa always did love his cars, and his wife.  It looks like a nice sunny day there too, and a good day to take little cruise around the block, or maybe even a "road trip".

I really loved my Grandparents, they were a big influence in shaping who I am.

Just like their car, they were classics.

Creative Recycling - Framed Greeting

Tuesday, March 23, 2010
As you may have noticed, on the back of our Random Thoughts greeting cards we ask that you "Recycle this card creatively." Our friend Mary in South Carolina did just as we asked, and she even sent us a picture to prove it.

What a great way to display your favorite cards and plus every time you pass by it gives you that nice little reminder of  those great people who sent you the greeting cards.

If you've got proof or your recycling abilities we'd love to see it, send images and info to Joe@minaleestudio.com (joe's our web guy)

Sunny Monday - Faces From The Back

Monday, March 22, 2010
Yaaaahhhh, the sun is shining on a Monday!  It feels so good.  I'm here to post another "Faces from the Back" card.  In honor of Spring this is a picture of me at age 13, and my brother Mike at age 18 going to the prom.  Mike's prom date for this dance was Mary (my now sister-in -law, and the sweet voice you talk to whenever you call Mina Lee Studio).  I have to find a picture of them together from this prom to post.  I was too young to go to the prom at this time, but we were allowed to be the "punch pourer's" if we had an older sibling going to the prom.  Let me tell you it was a real honor, and quite a thrill.  We got to gush over all the hot guys, and beautiful girls, and dream about our day in the future...(of course anticipation is always better than the real thing).  But anyway we had fun being the punch girls.  My friend Susie Lane was my punch pouring partner.  Look at how short that dress is!!!!  It had little panties that matched to wear underneath.  Even as warm as it is today, I would be freezing in that outfit.  I think Susie's dress was even shorter.  Shout out to you Susie....find a picture and prove me wrong.

The front of this card BC-172 is one of my more unique designs that appeal to a select few.  Remember the Brady Bunch Episode where Peter walks around trying to sound like a "cool old movie type gangster", and kept saying, "porkshops and appleshause"......well, if you get it, you get it....and if you don't, you don't.   Surprisingly, many of you do get it ,and I am so glad.  I had so much fun creating this card, and I walked around talking like a movie type gangster for days.  My Chicago reps, Becky and Robert are to blame for this card also, they always egg my silliness on. We started talking like Peter Brady one day during a trade show, and we just couldn't stop. When I got home I just had to make this card.  If they were with me in my studio all the time....who knows what kind of craziness would be printed.

Boy I am impressionable, not only am I now talking like Peter Brady, but I have a craving for pork chops and applesauce.  I better go make dinner.  Chow!

P.S. It's also my brother Mike on the front of the card.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all.

Seems we all have a "wee" bit of the Irish in us.  I know my children do, having a grandmother on my side of the family from the McCarty family, and a grandmother on their father's side of the family from the McAuliffe  family.  I think their might be a green beer or two thrown back in their honor.

I have been wanting to get at this blog personally for quite sometime now.  Made a New Years Resolution to do so...and here it is St. Patrick's Day and I am finally starting.  Hey, in Mina world that's actually not too bad.  In honor of St. Patrick's Day I wanted to post one of my favorite green dishes.  Nothing too healthy, but it is yummy.

---------PISTACHIO NUT SALAD--------
8 oz. Cool Whip
3 oz. box instant pistachio pudding
1 lb. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup mini marshmallows
1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Fold dry pudding into cool whip, add remaining ingredients, and refrigerate.
Enjoy.

One more thing I wanted to do on the blog today was post a picture from the back of the card and tell about who it is.  Many, many people ask about the different faces on the back, so I thought it would be fun to use the blog to start featuring different pictures, and let you get to know them.  There is an old saying that says "Back door friends are best"  Well I think so too, and I am going to continue to introduce you to my varied friends and family featured on the backs of my cards, and call it "Faces From the Back"  Hope you enjoy getting to know them.

Our first Picture is in honor of St. Patrick's Day.  It is a picture of my sister-in-law Kim, and her beautiful daughter Nicole.  This was taken 5 years ago, (hard to believe), at a silly little St. Patty's Day Family gathering we were having.  Nicole is now a college graduate, and "a-hummmm" that makes you five years older too Kim.  She's younger than me so I always have to rub it in.

May Little Leprechaun's bring you an unexpected treats today.
Eat something Green....maybe some green pudding

Sightings: Southern Living at Home

Tuesday, March 09, 2010
Do you ever see something and think to yourself, "Hey I recognize that!"
Our good friend Mary in South Carolina had that exact moment when she found our A.D.D. card in the Southern Living at Home catalog.

We think it's pretty fun to find our cards out in the wild. If you ever find yourself having a similar moment of "Hey, that's from Mina Lee Studio," we'd love to hear about it, just don't get distracted by a chicken before you get the chance to tell us about it. We also love to see how you've "Recycled this card creatively." Send you're sightings and creative works to Joe@minaleestudio.com, he's our website guy, include your details and we'll be sure to give you credit if we feature it here on our blog.
